Editing = Blood, Sweat and Tears
Hello guys! This is my first post about my personal writing journey, and I'm excited to share it with you!
I have been working on this book for 2 years now, of which about 9 months have been dedicated to editing and revising the novel. Safe to say, its been one hell of a ride. I’ve also been freelance writing for a while, and even though I haven’t written as many articles as I want to, its surely progress from the scared Lucia of years ago who freaked out as soon as she wrote out of her comfort zone.
Yes I’m still her a bit. Like all writers, I constantly freak out and want to throw my laptop out the window and just want to lie down and cry, but still I move on and write through it.
I’m happy with my novel so far, even though I’m at the part I most hate of revising: L I N E E D I T S. Yes they are annoying because you’ve got to look for the tiniest flaws of your writing and somehow fix them without destroying your entire prose, plus I’ve read this WIP a million times and frankly I’m starting to get sick of it. What was I saying? Ah yes, that I’m happy with my novel so far.
Jokes aside, writing a novel is crazy hard and sucks the life out of you but hey, keep going. Because that beautiful lighter-than-air feeling when you’ve written the words ‘The End’; or when you’ve finally figured out that plot hole; or when you get positive feedback from Beta Readers; or even later on when you get a publishing contract and your manuscript which was previously a hot mess of blood, sweat and tears on your computer is now a book… that feeling is worth everything we go through, I promise.
